When it comes to reflective bird control products, it is important to know what kind of results to expect:
Reflective products fall in the category of “open area bird control”.
One will almost never find that all the birds are gone after installing reflective products on their own.
It is simply an infestation reduction system at a fraction of the cost of installing physical bird proofing products all over the building.
One may even see a bird sitting right next to the unit – this does not mean the system does not work, but merely that there are some remaining stubborn generational birds that simply won’t pack their bags and leave.
On average we find that the reflective products (if placed correctly) will deter about 6-7 out of every 10 daytime birds.
When comparing the cost of installing physical bird proofing products everywhere (100% solution) versus the reduced cost of installing reflective devices (60-70% solution), most clients will be satisfied with the latter option.

If you need ALL the birds to go, then we definitely recommend installing Bird Netting, Bird Spikes, etc.

The Eagle Eye reflective system does not work for:
Sleeping/roosting birds as the system needs sunlight to be effective.
Nesting birds – a parent’s instinct to care for its young is much stronger than its fear for the units.
Easily accessible food sources or somebody feeding the birds will reduce results.
Large gull colonies already settled in the area will not be deterred by the reflective system alone.
(The system will prevent them from settling if installed as a preventative measure.)
In agriculture, it is important to have the system in place 3-4 weeks before the produce ripen.
Once the birds are actively feeding, it is almost impossible to chase them away.

Best of both strategy:
Most of the time we strongly recommend a combination of reflective products and physical bird proofing products. This will keep the price down and get the best value for money results.
Step 1: Install bird proofing products at the favourite nesting and roosting areas.
Step 2: Install reflective devices to deter daytime birds from the area and to prevent new birds from exploring the building for their potential new home.

As reflective units become dirty one will note a reduction in effectiveness. It is essential to clean the units at least once every four months.

Simply wash the units with a window-cleaner soap and rinse thoroughly afterward. We also recommend applying a layer of car polish with a microfiber cloth for extra shine and protection.

Finally, please consider neighbours when installing reflective units as the flashes may be an irritation to them.
